Born in Paterson, Nagle grew up in Hawthorne and after high school, he embark on a basketball career that saw him play six seasons including three in the ABL. He would work as a baker, and died in 1951 at the young age of 41.

He married Grace Steinbock and they had one daughter, Judith.
