Like fellow pro basketball player Fritz Knothe, Krakovitch played at Passaic High School during that school's basketball success. After his junior year, he was coaxed into transferring to Union High School to help the basketball team. After graduating in 1926, he went right into the professional game, signing with the Baltimore Orioles in the ABL. He spent three season playing pro basketball.
