After 12 years in the NBA, during which time he was an All-Star, a battered Faust called it quits. He went on to work in the building materials industry and for a company that produced astroturf. He was only 56 when he died of a heart attack in 1984.

He was married to Joan Kissane and they had three daughters and a son.
