Born to Walter and Helen Selbo in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He bounced around a few colleges, playing basketball and baseball. He joined the US Navy in 1944 and was released in July of 1946, but I do not think we saw any of the war and remained stateside. After college he played pro basketball for a few seasons, but also played minor league baseball for ten seasons, compiling a .316 career average mainly in Class C ball.

He later worked as a teacher and coach in Littleton, Colorado. Not sure on his entire coaching itinerary in Colorado.

Selbo was married to Gladys Mitchell in September of 1949, but divorced a year and a half later.
