Born to Michael and Anna Erban, Eddie graduated from Oshkosh High School and attended Wisconsin-Oshkosh where he played basketball. We played for Toledo and Oshkosh in the NBL, and also served in the Marine Corps during World War 2. After a season with Syracuse, he retired to become an mason and bricklayer, forming a successful church-building business.
He married Helen Schoenrock on December 5, 1940, and had a son, Steven, and a daughter, Sandy Bekken.
